Hi there!

Just a short update for dear readers coming to forum. We released 0.5, and next steps are:
- bug fixing - Users' reports and our own "known issues"
- iOS port - We will focus on OpenGL ES 2.0 and iPhone minimum version 5.0. May be moved to 6.0 as we don't have so much testing capabilities, but we will see.
- doc update - Docs were really tied up by Javier in his original lib. When we made the port things were moved around and some docs don't look as well as original, and we have some TODOs yet.
- FAQ update - Need to update specially the part with building in Win and Mac, as I changed how we link dependencies just 2 days before release (mostly all libs are statically linked)

Hope you enjoy, and, please don't hesitate on reporting bugs! I like bugs! (Well, fixing them and thinking that we have a better product ;) )

FYI:

been hacking a little on the Tmx map parser, - and it seems comming along nicely, - with a little luck we maybe able to include in an earlier release ( fingers crossed and all  ).

hi, just a quick look at the TMX progress. - I need to adjust the tile placement code, but it seems promising for the Isometric part =)

It looks GREAT! The editor is perfect fit for our engine :)

Good work!

How about performance? Did you spot bad performance from usage, or it works as benchmark tutorials?

Weel about performace, - at present it's not good since im currently blitting each tile one at a time for each gameloop  ... this should be optimized to be added once to one big surface, that should be blittted instead. Furthermore this could probably again be optimized to only redrawing when changes have happened.

I don't know if it could be used for a benchmark test. We probably need moving objects beween the map layers to benchmark anything ?

Entities solve all this for you.

They only are redrawn again if they move or params ate changed. We should think how the tile map fits in an entity, and even if it makes sense for it to fit in the entities.

Probably we don't want maps to be inside an entity, so most likely we will have to manage the setting "it needs redraw" as in entities separately.

FYI, - I have started hacking on some Spriter support again. I have added some spriter files to the indielib project build in Xcode .Have not added anything yet to the tutorial setup since I keep messing up my app. bundle setup.

Forgot to write here, that Im currently looking into the SCMLpp api for use in indielib, - it can be found here: http://code.google.com/p/scml-pp/
Pros:
+ uses tinyxml
+ rendering is clearly sepperated, in regards to support a lot of engines.
+ will save developer time - ( hopefully).

cons:
- Code seems to could use a little cleaning up.
- future support ?

FYI:
* I removed the SCMLpp api from the dependencies, - really didn't like it  - is now writing (trying  ) our own spriter parser.
* Have added a tutorial regarding Tmx to our wiki (yes I know there is A LOT to be done code wise, - but it reflects the status of the code).

Minor update:

After our "mail-talk" with Bjørn (the tiled dev guy) I have added staggered method to adv tutorial 5 ( just the names, - no "meat" yet :| ). I need to make a staggered map as he descibes. But right now I need to keep focus on the Spriter implementation  A lot of small steps ... looking forward to actually delivering some screenshots / animations . The commits are small, but flowing at a steadily pace
