I have spent 40 hours in making this tutorial. I really hope it would be useful for some of you.

"We are going to learn how to create an in game map editor that dosen’t use tiles, but directly backdrop images that you can translate, tint, rotate, scale, etc, in different parallax layers and camera zooming. You can have several tilesets and you can of course to save / load the maps using XML files. This type of editor is used in games like Braid or Aquaria. For this tutorial we are going to use IndieLib C++ 2d engine, because their entity objects are great for having graphical objects which attributes can be modified in real time. And we are going to do it with style, using graphics from lostgarden.com prototyping challenges and Aquaria game."

[Edit]
Please, can all you (forum members) vote up these links? This way the tutorial would be readed by more people and maybe the community will grow faster, thanks!

Hey, Km, have you checked out this thread? I think this map tool could be really useful for hidden objects games, in order to place the objects on the screen.

Adding a good and flexible editing to the IndieLib is my spare time digging. (Though i began with adding native os gui panels and controls)

I like the editor. You know it's this editor draged me here.
(I registered as 'venomj' and wrote my first post here, but forgot my password ever since)
Now I have developed a GUI system, I would like to add GUI to this editor and make it more user friendly.
Before that I'm fighting my way to input Chinese in my GUI.
