Post subject:  Interactive Toy Competition [Finished]

Inspired by Tigsource competitions and using the idea of Mrennix I invite all you to join to the first IndieLib competition...

Like my English sucks I have copy pasted the TigSource guidelines. If someone can explain it with better words I can edit it later:

IndieLib Competition are short competitions based around a particular theme. The emphasis is on collaboration, sharing, and, most of all, the completion of projects. I.e., it's an exercise in making small, tight, enjoyable / interesting games that can be played from beginning to end. There are no prizes involved.

The theme of the game is to create an Interactive Toy. This could be something as simple as a light show that responds to mouse clicks; a "Tamagotchi" pet, a warrior in a small scenery, an intelligent robot, a growing carnivore plant, an stupid dog, an alien, a city of lot of small crazy balls, etc. It will be more much funny if there is a mechanic and it is playable. But feel free to experiment whatever ideas you have.

All the submitted games will be voted by you in a poll.

Start Date: November 1th (Midnight)
End Date: November 30th (Midnight)

Rules

- All the games have to use . Sourcecode submitting is not required but will be appreciated.

- Entries should be started and ended within the time frame of the competition to be considered for judging (but it's OKAY if you start thinking/prototyping a bit earlier).

- Using pre-existing IndieLib frameworks is OKAY.

- Entries must be made for the competition only (but you can do whatever you wish with them once they're finished).

- Collaborations are allowed and, in fact, are welcomed.

- You may start a thread to track the development of your game! Be sure to write [Toy] before the title in your post.

- You may submit more than one game.

- Submit your game by declaring "FINISHED" on your game's thread. Include the download link to the latest version of the game somewhere where I can find it.

Let's do it!

Ok, I'm not making a game, just a toy!

Most of it is based on the flocking code in Mat Buckland's "Programming Game AI by Example" book. In fact I've mostly just ripped out his GDI code and dropped in IndieLib as the renderer. It has hundreds of triangles flocking around like shoals of fish, attacking, evading, pursuing etc.

One thing I've found is that there is a big slowdown using Entity2DManager to do the rendering of hundreds of objects , so I end up blitting directly using the BlitPoly2D methods in the Render class.
