Well, here's my little hack using Mat Buckland's flocking code from his book "Programming Game AI By Example".

I have basically dropped in IndieLib as the renderer and added a scrolling starfield because everyone loves them. Currently you can press 'E' for evade mode (all the red triangles wander around and avoid the yellow triangle) or 'P' for pursuit mode. The yellow triangle wanders around the screen randomly. I'd like to make it user controlled and create a shooter, but the flocking code is quite complex and I can't quite get my head around it yet. I'll post source if anyone wants to have a look. Mat's code is very elegant, mine is crappy :-p

You can download the current zip file containg the exe from http://www.amnet.net.au/~mrennix/Flocking.zip. Unzip and run flocking.exe.

Any suggestions on improvements are welcome!

Oh yeah, you can fiddle with the params.ini file to change runtime settings. Eg the NumAgents field is the number of red triangles.

Impresive! I really love it! The sourcecode would be really welcome! I hope you have some time to give it some gameplay! :)

Is this a blur effect or are there really that many red triangles? This is no armada this is the whole alien fleet! :)
Don't have time to really try it out now, but will do soon. Screenshot looks great already.

Ah, now I see. This is from a galaxy far far away in the past. I confused this to be one of the current competition entries :)
No wonder it looks so impressive. This is the final looks. :)
